Change Your Mind: The Best and Hardest Thing You Can Do To Take Care of Yourself

Start running a more positive dialog in your head and watch your life change for the better.

It’s true. Your subconscious believes whatever you tell it. You’re dumb; you’re fat; you’re no good at this or that — all of it.

I don’t know you, but I can tell you those are all lies.

You have to start telling yourself the truth.

Every time you think a negative thought, turn it around immediately. You may not know how to do something yet — but you can learn. Your weight is a result of choices you made in the past — now, you can get healthier if you choose to.

You’re not going to catch every negative thought; that’s OK.

When you notice one, you make a conscious effort to change it.

You could start with a few positive affirmations or even one. Put them on Post-Its — on your bathroom mirror, your kitchen cupboard, in the car. Write them in your planner or keep one on your desk.

I bet you could find a planner with positive affirmations already in it, or you could make your own.

You could even get a bracelet with something positive to remind you.

These positive thoughts will help keep you in the right frame of mind. When negative thinking happens, it stands out and doesn’t feel right. That makes it easier to change your mind.

Remember — all of this good work is creating new, positive neural pathways in your brain.

And your life will change for the better.
