About a year and a half ago, I found out that I had had a heart attack.
I have no idea when. That still boggles my mind. That’s the way many women experience heart attacks.
Or, I guess, don’t experience them.
Right now, as I write this, my heart is beating erratically.
Could it be the extra glass of iced tea I had this afternoon? The chocolate-covered ice cream bar after dinner? I’m not sure.
All I know is that my daughter and grandson are sleeping upstairs, and I don’t want to die.
Most of us don’t want to die.
That makes sense. Of course, we want to live. But are we doing enough?
How long have most of us been ignoring those suggestions to eat healthier and exercise more?
I eat pretty healthily most of the time, but I rarely exercise.
And we have to consider stress. Too much of it, for too long, can have lasting effects on your health. You can’t keep brushing it off.
I’m talking to myself as much as you here.
I tend to look for “ easy “ things rather than doing the ones that challenge me.
I’m scared enough right now to do whatever it takes. I think lowering my stress levels and moving more would be a good way to start. Small, simple changes so that they stick.
